About the game

The 1996 release packaged the original Amazon Trail for the Windows 95 generation. The gameplay is unchanged, still canoeing up the Amazon, photographing wildlife, and time-jumping between centuries, but the installer and front-end were modernised for the new desktop OS.

It commonly appeared on late-'90s family edutainment compilation discs alongside the rest of MECC's Trail catalog.

History

Released in 1996 by MECC, by then operating under SoftKey ownership. Amazon Trail II shipped the same year, which made 1996 a peak year for Amazon Trail on the consumer market.
